Background removal, text removal and watermark editing
Choose between transparency, restoring an original layer and retouching, with checks for halos and missing image detail.
Identify the edit before choosing a tool
Removing a background isolates a subject and often creates transparency. Removing flattened text requires reconstructing pixels behind the letters. Removing a watermark from your own project may simply mean hiding a layer and exporting again. These tasks use different methods; converting a JPEG to PNG does not perform any of them. Pixel Desk currently converts image formats but does not automatically reconstruct covered image content.
Return to the editable original
If you own the layered design, hide the text or watermark layer in the original editor and export a copy. This preserves the actual background rather than generating an approximation. For a meme, keep the original photo and editable caption separately so a spelling correction does not require repainting pixels. When the image comes from a licensed library, obtain the licensed unwatermarked file instead of editing a preview.
Check cutout edges before export
For a background cutout, inspect hair, glasses, translucent fabric and narrow gaps at full size. Preview against light and dark backgrounds to reveal halos. Export to PNG when transparency must survive. JPEG has no alpha channel, so choose an explicit background colour before converting it. Test at the final display size as well as while zoomed in; a jagged edge can look different after scaling.
Know what cannot be recovered exactly
If text is flattened over a face or a detailed object, the hidden pixels are absent from the file. Retouching or generated fill can produce a plausible replacement, not a verified recovery. Do not use that result where factual detail matters. Keep an untouched original and label substantial changes when the context requires it. A useful editing workflow ends with a visual check, a sensible output format and a retained source, not just an export button.
