When to use image compressor
Large photos slow down pages and can exceed an upload limit. Compare the original size with the new file and adjust quality to find a useful balance. A target such as 200 KB is a goal: the tool reports when it cannot reach that size without changing the dimensions. It never labels a larger file as meeting your limit.
How it works
- Select an image and choose JPEG or WebP.
- Set quality, or enter a target size in KB.
- Compress, inspect the reported size and download.

Before you export or rely on the result
Compression can change image detail. A size target is not a guarantee; resize the image if quality reduction alone is insufficient. PNG compression is not offered as a quality slider.
Does this tool upload my input?
No. This tool processes input in your browser. Optional advertisements are separate third-party content and load only when you allow ads. See the privacy notice for hosting logs and advertising details.
Can I use the result without creating an account?
Yes. Image Compressor is free to use without an account. Review the result against the limits above and the requirements of the app or document where you plan to use it.
